Broke through a brick wall with a record I've had saved for ages!

I've had a record saved to my great great Uncle Reuben for so long, and have been at a brick wall where I haven't been able to confirm his dad's family after being thrown off by conflicting info from a DNA match.

By complete chance I opened it back up recently and mindlessly clicked to see the previous page. His name isn't mentioned on that page so it didn't get flagged as a hint. On the reverse were handwritten answers from Reuben's oldest brother, explaining where their dad was now, when their dad deserted them and even the name and address of one of their uncles.

That lead me to finding the Uncle in a census, who was living with two of his other brothers as well as his family. And I was able to confirm Reuben's dad's family from there as well as discover more about what happened to Reuben growing up. It really was an incredible find, everything fell into place from that one page I'd missed all this time!

It's not the most techy of tips and won't always lead to a discovery, but definitely don't forget to check the surrounding pages of a record just in case there's something hidden! :-)
